The Wixarika Regional Council via the Wirikuta Defense Front of Tamatsima Waha’a

has the honor to invite you to this

Press Conference

which will take place at the Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez Center for Human Rights, on Wednesday Oct. 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Serapio Rendón No. 57-B, Colonia San Rafael, Mexico City (Map attached).

The reason is the presence in this city of a large delegation of Wixarika (Huichol) people in the defense of their sacred territory of Wirikuta, in San Luis Potosí, which is gravely threatened by Canadian mining companies and agroindustrial corporations.

They will discuss the different aspects of their legitimate defense with the national and international authorities and their legal rights. Likewise they will announce the activities they have programmed in this city the 26th and 27th of this month in order to convoke the Mexican society and the nations of the world to an overwhelming defense of Wirikuta, the Sacred H

eart of Mexico. The time is now.

The conference is held by the Wixarika Regional Council, authorities of the Wixaritari communities, and as its representative, the Wirikuta Defense Front of Tamatsima Waha’a, and those accompanying them will include:

among other personalities.

The first event to take place is the reception of the delegations of the Wixarika people in the University City which will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the garden of the Central Library, together with the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, and from there we will walk to the Faculty of Sciences to carry out a ceremony with academics, intellectuals and artists. We invite those who accompany us to this first event, as well as the activities that will be announced at the press conference.
